The Ozone-Pros Process
Ozone Deodorization & Sanitization Treatments for Homes or Businesses may require a pre-assessment, but most often our Certified Ozone Technician’s can assess the contamination/odour and clearly communicate the potential results to be achieved from information gathered from an client inquiry email or phone conversation. The Ozone-Pros can now effectively determine the appropriate Ozone level and approximate time required to treat the space. (eg. Daytime treatment or Overnight treatment)
At the scheduled time of the treatment, our Ozone-Pros Technician arrives to setup our Ozone Deodorization & Sanitization Treatment Equipment. The equipment is distributed throughout the premises to maximize the distribution of Ozone and further assess any additional problem areas.
Our Technician will then proceed to remove the HVAC (furnace) Filter and set the HVAC fan to circulate (if applicable) to promote the most efficient circulation of Ozone throughout the HVAC system.
Note: A new furnace filter(s) is recommended to install when the Treatment Process is complete. (unless filter has been recently changed)
We ensure that Ozone is distributed throughout the ventilation system to enhance distribution and ensure any chemicals and/or microorganisms and contaminants within the air ducts are broken down and eliminated.
Note: this process does NOT physically remove dust, debris or particles from the ventilation system or premises.
Our Technician will proceed (if necessary) to seal off exterior openings to include: Fireplaces, Exhaust fans, Windows, Doors, Thresholds, etc. Ensure all cabinet doors, drawers, and closet doors are open and that seat cushions and mattresses may be set on edge to ensure ultimate exposure to Ozone.
Prior to initiating the Ozone Sanitization Treatment Process we MUST ensure that All People, Pets and Plants are removed from the premises. (Plants may be contained in plastic to resist exposure to Ozone) Nothing else on the premises will be harmed by our process, in fact, all soft surfaces, clothing, furniture, draperies, etc… exposed to Ozone will be sanitized and deodorized.
Note: Your food will not be harmed. In fact Ozone is approved as a food additive/ preservative and is commonly used for water purification.
Set up time for Ozone generators, fans and securing the enveloped space is approximately 20-30 minutes.
We then initiate the Ozone Odor Removal/ Sanitization Treatment process by powering up the equipment, exit and secure the premises.
During the Ozone Odor removal/Sanitization Treatment signs are posted at all entrances upon securing to ensure no one enters the premises while sanitization is in progress. The signs include our contact information should someone need to contact us regarding the home or business prior to the process being completed. The Ozone Odor Removal/Sanitization Treatment generates Ozone levels to the point of being very hazardous to humans. Entrance into the space being treated is Strictly Prohibited. Only a Certified Ozone Technician observing Appropriate Safety Precautions, a certified breathing apparatus and Knowledge of the effects of Ozone at these elevated levels may enter the premises prior to the completion of the sanitization process.
Upon completion of the Ozone Sanitization Treatment Process, we return to the home or business, enter the treatment area using appropriate safety precautions and a Certified breathing apparatus to terminate the process. Opening windows, doors and accessing any other fresh air sources to now vent and circulate the remaining Ozonated air and replace it with fresh air. This Ventilation process takes approximately 30-45 minutes. We then remove our equipment and upon confirmation of adequate ventilation to initiate “safe to re-enter” status by our Certified Technician. People, Pets and Plants are allowed back into the home or business.
A clean, fresh smell like that outdoors after a Thunder/Lightning storm will be noticeable for approximately 24-48 hours. Then there may be a minimal scent of Ozone for up to 3 days depending on the amount of fabric present and exposed, then “Odour Neutral”will be achieved.
The Normal Treatment time required for this process is 8 – 12+ hours depending on the degree of contamination, Cubic feet of Air in the space and the design of the premises to be Treated. However, in some cases 12-16 PLUS hours of Treatment time may be required.
After Treatment Completion (Home or Business)
It is recommended that the Homeowner / client install a new High Efficiency Particulate (HEPA) filter(s) immediately after the Treatment is completed and proceed to replace it again with a new HEPA filter after 30 days continuous HVAC air circulation. It is then recommended to Change Filter(s) every 60-90 days depending on particulates generated within the property in respect to proximity to sources of air-borne contaminants.
Vacuum floors and furniture with HEPA filter Vacuum cleaner or schedule a Professional Cleaning service.
To control air-borne contaminants effectively within your indoor space we suggest our economical Ozone maintenance program annually. Typically the Ozone Sanitization Treatment required for Maintenance after the initial Ozone Sanitization Treatment is much less time and considerably more economical.
